The son, grandson and nephew of police officers, Marcus Musante grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was involved at an early age with the San Francisco Youth Court program and SFPD Cadet program. He later interned for both the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office and District Attorney’s Office.
While attending Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, CA, Marcus interned for the Federal Public Defenders Office and Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
For over 7 years, Marcus Musante served as a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney where he amassed a Felony trial record of approximately 40 Guilty verdicts compared to 1 Not Guilty verdict. He represented the People in Pasadena, Alhambra, East Los Angeles, Downtown and Van Nuys. His trials include the full range of crimes: from Petty Theft to Capital Murder.
Following an unsuccessful venture into the 2012 District Attorney’s Race, Marcus left the Office and joined the prestigious criminal defense firm, The Shouse Group. As he adjusted to “the other side,” he retained his successful verdict rate, including an 11-1 verdict for Not Guilty (the case was dismissed by the Judge) despite his client being on video, with two eye-witnesses and a signed confession. Prior to the case being sent out for trial, Mr. Musante is on record warning, “Your Honor, I’m willing to give the People one final opportunity to settle this case.”
In addition to being of counsel for Margolin & Lawrence, Mr. Musante is a volunteer attorney for, ‘The Innocence Project’ and is an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Law at Palomar Community College.
Whether for the prosecution or the defense, whether in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego, Mr. Musante stands by his position that, “Justice finds a way.”
